Can anyone explain this one?

January 10, 2009

Ok, so according to my favorite talk radio guy, Obama thinks we should delay the 2-17-09 digital tv thing because people aren’t prepared.  Have they not been warning us night and day for 18 months?  Plus, the radio guy said that 7.7 million homes use an antenna (out of 300 million).  So far, they have given out 41 million coupons for converter boxes.  Huh?  I seem to remember that they would give 2 coupons per household (we only asked for one because we only have one tv, which gets about 5 channels and that’s plenty for us, thank you very much), but even taking that into account, it seems they’ve given out 3 times too many…what is going on here?

Peeps, Big TVs, and the Lust of the Eyes

March 29, 2008

The following was written by my good college friend Breeze, a wife, nurse and mother of three. When I read this on her blog, I asked her permission to re-post it here. Enjoy!

Peeps, Big TVs, and the Lust of the Eyes

I don’t like Peeps-those marshmallow chicks that show up this time of year. They have never tasted good to me. Yet every year I see those beautiful bright yellow, and now blue, pink, and green, creations in sugar springing from the store shelves. With their droopy beaks they say “we are sweet, we are soft, we are quintessential Easter and memories of yesteryear!”

Quandary

July 8, 2006

Often I am tasked with cleaning up Amelia in a public place, or needing to take her to the restroom.  I would like to solicit opinions as to which restroom I should take her to.

America Occupies Iraq

May 7, 2006

Here’re Ben’s latest thoughts on the war:
I have heard many liberal commentators say we are losing the war in Iraq. They are clearly confused. We occupy the country. Those opposed to us have no known bases. If they did have bases we would blow them up into tiny bits. Those who oppose us have nowhere near the ability to expel us, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t like to hurt us.
Guerilla/terrorist tactics are very similar to that of a cat taking a swipe at you with its claws out. It hurts. but it’s not going to kill you. In a fight to the death between a human and a cat the cat would lose. Cats do not fight to the death (nor to the pain). In a fight with a cat I would probably get a few scratches and then the sight of a cat running away. Then any idiot friends who I related the story to would probably say that I lost the fight.
