Watkins Glen
September 15, 2009
Some family friends live on Seneca Lake. We were invited to stay in their cottage for the weekend…!

While there we visited the gorge at Watkins Glen State Park.

It’s very strange to have a state park entrance on a main street in a thriving town!

Lunch on the dock:

There’s a salamander in the cup…

Our hostess took us to visit her son’s hobby farm a few miles away!

These gentle giants were very shy of adults, but were quite curious about Amelia and kept coming closer and closer…

They just stood around looking at her like she was the most interesting thing they’d seen in months!

A C-shaped squash in Connie’s garden.

Picking pears…we went home with a few dozen!

Up at the deck of the main house for dinner…what a view!!

Back at the cottage…time for s’mores!

Sunday morning around 8…

The water was so still you could see every stone…nothing like the choppy waves Ben endured while canoeing!

Oatmeal outside!

Alas, we had to leave Sunday morning to be back for a meeting…we can’t wait to go again when we can stay longer!!
Great pics! Really capture the weekend. Your host and hostess enjoyed their time with the Steins also. We are blessed in our friendships! Love Gr. W.
Looks like you had beautiful weather! I remember having pictures of my family at watkins glen as kids. Two weekend trips in a row – what’s planned for this weekend?
maybe we’ll come see you!!
