Clouds on our way to Stony Brook on Saturday…

We went to Stony Brook twice in October and once in April, but the swimming was not open any of those times, so I was determined to make a trip down this summer to try it out! They dam the creek and let it fill up…there are sections from 2 feet to 8 feet deep.

The water is surprisingly clean and a lovely green color. When we drove in, there was a chalkboard at the toll booth letting us know that the water temperature that day was…58 degrees! It felt great!

We also hiked the waterfall trail and could not believe the difference from fall and spring, when we were the only people on the trail (see our November posts to compare pictures). There were throngs of people everywhere, swimming in the creek and sliding down the waterfalls. I definitely prefer having the trail to myself!

This past week Amelia attended a dance camp Monday through Friday. Parents were invited to observe the last class, but my battery died after the first picture!

Friday night we went to Charlotte with Miki. Our first order of business was to walk the pier–it took us 12 minutes to get to the end.

They also have a lovely carousel, always a favorite!

Sunday:

Giving Amelia the camera elicits mixed results:

Looks like fun! I like the pic of you and Amelia in your towels! And I love how Ben is still posing in this last pic!
i knew you’d like the towel pic!
Just picking these up. Don’t know why I missed them before.
You and Amelia both look kind of shivery cool in the water.
My favorite of Amelia was the one of her smiling on the carousel.
No offense to the great adults also pictured.
someday we should visit and go to stony brook with you. it looks amazing. (maybe when we don’t have an infant hahahahaha!)
