New Fence!

Last week we replaced our backyard fence.  It’s custom-built by the same guy who finished our attic.  I’m posting several since my dad is interested…if you aren’t that crazy about fences, scroll down for some pictures of Amelia outside today!

The double gate was Ben’s idea, in case we ever have a riding mower or a truck needs to get in the yard or something.  We did have a single gate at one point, but it broke and he just boarded it over.

A few more pics of the old fence for comparison:

The old one certainly had its charm, but it was falling apart.

Plus, I really like the security of having it solid on all but one of the sides.  With the spacing in the pickets along the last side, I can still see what’s going on in my own driveway from inside the house.

  1. I like the new fence! Do you have to do anything to it (waterproof/stain/etc)? Amelia is such a big girl. Every time I see pictures I’m amazed. Your weather looks great – ours it too but only for a few days . . . .

  2. He recommended we seal it by spraying it with something linseed oil based, but we don’t have to stain it and he recommended against painting it. I’m not sure what we’ll do. Some of it does look darker already, but that’s just varied color in the wood.

  3. The fence looks great !! So do you and Amelia and that’s not just my bias .
We are blessed to have you in our family iincluding Ben. He just wasn’t in the photos. Love

  4. the picture of me is 2 years old! it was just there to show what the old fence looked like.
