Matthew 11:28-30

July 29, 2006

Jessica and I have begun memorizing verses together. Here is the first set that we did about a week ago:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

  1. I love those verses, and it’s always good to remember that God will take the weight of life off our shoulders.

For camp this week, we are learning John 14:6, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father except though Me.”

    Miss you guys!!

  2. A good reminder for me. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me . . Take – a deliberate action on my part. Learn – I did not remember that this was part of the verse.
I am exhausted and overwhelmed with the burdens of life – and God offers me something different. Like a wise teacher coming along side me to show me a different approach to life.
What reflections do you have on these verses? What new ones are you learning?

  3. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

If God is listing reasons why we should take his yoke it implies there is a choice. A choice we can often see incorrectly. He has to remind us that his path is easier and as a master he is kinder.
