Quandary

You can’t go in the ladies’ room!!!!!!!!!
And Amelia can’t go in the men’s room. Hence the quandary.
Well lots of places have family restrooms now, but otherwise I’d say Jess is stuck with the job.
To prove that Ben is not as strange as he sounds here is a quote from wikipedia in a related article:
“Sex-separated public toilets are a source of difficulty for some people. For example, people with children of the opposite sex must choose between bringing the child into a toilet not designated for the child’s gender, or entering a toilet not designated for one’s own.”
I must assume that some men take their daughters into the ladies’ room. I don’t know that I have ever seen this done though.
I haven’t seen that done either.
I would much rather meet a 3-year-old boy in the ladies’ restroom than Ben!
Definitely has to be the men’s room.
Yes, but don’t you think it would be a little traumatic for a little girl to walk into a guys’ restroom….I would hate to walk into a mens’ room and see a bunch of men going to the bathroom.
Very good point, Johnah Lynn…there are certain images even I don’t want in my mind, much less in my daughter’s…
Unless there’s a family restroom, I agree that Jessica should be tasked with this job any other time! It’s different for a mom to take a little boy into the women’s restroom, but there’s no way I’d take my little girl into a men’s room.
And no, I don’t want to see Ben or any other adult male in the women’s restrooms!
Thanks for all the comments. This should help tremendously in my endeavour to do less work in general.
I wanted to add my 2 cents as a male opinion on this subject.
I agree with the ladies in this case for 2 reasons:
1) The Men’s restroom is usually so nasty, that I rarely want to go in there, let alone have my daughter or someone’s else’s daughter in there.
2) Inadvertant promotion to perverts.
There are way too many weirdos out there lurking in public areas (the mall especially).
My humble opinion. If worst comes to worst Ben, you could always find a group of bushes
HAHA!! Bushes..we don’t do well with bushes..and my son goes into the women’s room…you could always check to see if the bathrooms are empty thus needing to walk in on anyone…Do they even have actual toilets in the men’s rooom? They have to right? In case a guy needs a “longer visit” lol…good luck on this one in a few years all you’ll have to do is wait outside the BR
I am 67 yr. old Grandfather who looks after 3yr. old boy , girl twins so have same problem. I use the disabled toilets seems to work for me.
Oh, my goodness, you mean there is someone out there who wonders if there are REAL ACTUAL TOILETS in the men’s room? Of course there are, silly. Here’s another eye opening statement: in several places, like at stadiums and other super busy places, the men’s room just has one great big long trough, basically, find a place in line and pee as a group! Always wondered what wacko came up with that one OR group showers.
We’re not animals here…!
I have had this problem with my kids, especially as a single daddy, it isn’t easy and I’m glad SOMEONE finally came up with the idea of a family restroom. I would only take my daughter in the men’s room as a last resort or “emergency” situation, otherwise I try to find a “family” restroom or a similar “single occupant” restroom where we can lock the main door.
Pete made a good suggestion, the handicapped stalls have a lot of room so you can somewhat privately take a couple kids in there if you have to and still have room for y’all. Must say I just don’t care much for the communal bathroom thing, period.
Don’t worry ladies, I pretty much figured you wouldn’t want to be surprised by a grown man in your restroom, so I would never take my daughter in there. You know, I have seen some ladies’ restrooms, however (no not because I am a weirdo, I worked in places where I had to spot check them before I shut down) and you girls have it pretty nice in some!!! Even a couch in one I saw!! Of course if you gave us guys one, it would get destroyed. Some men, I think, really ARE animals. I’m a guy, and half the time *I* can’t even stand going in a public bathroom. Even worse, I’ve heard from some women that have seen both bathrooms in a place and say the guys’ is actually CLEANER. Too crazy.
Anyway, even when my son is a little older (he’s only 6 now) I will probably still go in with him. There are too many kooks out there, really there are, trust me. I got terrified as a child a few times. Thank goodness nothing really bad or hurtful ever happened to me, but just take my word that there are weirdos out there that will try talking to people they shouldn’t and in places they shouldn’t.
